About Summit
Lisa " Summit" Mazzotte, composer and songwriter, received her BA from Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Graduating with degrees in Music and Economics, Lisa was awarded the Hubbard Hutchinson Fellowship for creativity in the arts (an honor also bestowed upon Williams graduate, Stephen Sondheim). After the completion of her fellowship, Lisa obtained a Master’s degree in Music Education from the College of St. Rose. Lisa taught music at the secondary and college levels and then completed a children’s opera under a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and has received several commissions as well as a Meet the Composer grant. Lisa was accepted to study at La Schola Cantorum in Paris, France with Julliard professors, David Diamond and Phillip Lasser and European composer Narcis Bonet and continued her studies after this in the Master’s composition program at The New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts with composer Pozzi Escot. Lisa currently resides in Los Angeles, California and writes music full-time in a variety of genres and keeps her boundaries limitless. Her works include every musical style from avant-garde atonal compositions to commercially recorded popular songs.
